Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Company

A seed-stage AI platform for consumer lending, starting with mortgage. The company builds AI voice and SMS agents that mortgage lenders deploy across contact centers, collections, and compliance operations, handling payment collection, escrow questions, new loan qualification, and delinquent-borrower engagement, work that historically required large teams of people. Every AI call is scored against the lender's own quality framework to support regulatory compliance. The company has processed a substantial volume of payments, generated meaningful revenue, and is growing its team quickly.

About the Role

This is the technical face of the company inside its most important enterprise mortgage accounts. You embed directly with customers, including top-10 US mortgage lenders, translate their compliance-heavy workflows into production AI agents, and own the customer relationship end to end. The first month is spent embedded in the product until you are expert enough to speak with enterprises. The right person is a strong software engineer who wants to be in the room with customers, not a solutions consultant who dabbles in code.

What You'll Own

• Building, configuring, and launching AI agents that handle real borrower workflows
• Production-grade backend and full-stack code (Python, Java, TypeScript) integrating with loan servicing systems, data sources, and telephony platforms
• The full agent development lifecycle: prototype quickly, set up CI/CD, monitor live usage, iterate to targets, and document best practices
• Scoping ambiguous customer asks and iterating them into stable deployments
• Acting as the technical face in key accounts, building trust through speed, empathy, and impact
• Feeding customer learnings back into the core product and the roadmap
  
  

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of professional engineering experience (sweet spot 3 to 5), including at least a year in customer-facing engineering
• Strong Python, Java, or TypeScript, and comfort building APIs and backend systems
• A strong work ethic and very high attention to detail
• The ability to own projects end to end with limited guidance
• Confidence working with business leaders and engineers alike
• Genuine interest in the mortgage and lending space
• Daily use of AI coding tools
• Bonus: forward deployed engineering experience, applied engineering at an AI agent company, voice AI, telephony, or contact-center infrastructure, mortgage, lending, or fintech domain experience, or shipping AI in a compliance-heavy vertical such as legal, healthcare, or financial services
  
  

Logistics

San Francisco, in person five days a week. This is a hard requirement with no flexibility. Compensation is $170K to $250K base plus equity. Visa: H-1B transfers and TN status are workable; OPT status does not qualify. SF-based or willing to relocate immediately.
